Hello My Name Is: Sobekcis

HMNI_Insta-PUFF_SOBEKCIS

Name: Sobek & Kcis / Sobekcis
Crew: HA & VAR
City/Country: Belgrade, Serbia

When did you start writing? 2006.

What’s graffiti for you? It’s a life style, at the end of the day most of our experience, traveling and having opportune to do something has come from graffiti.

Influences? Changes from time to time but usually the people we are surrounded by.

What keeps you still writing? The freedom of doing what you want how you want when ever you want.

How would you describe your style? Currently we call it rap style, but before we would give it the label of cartoon graff, but if we paint a more modern approach or more classical it always has a dose of illustration in the line.

What do you look for when going out painting? The best spot.

What is your favorite city in the world and why? We can’t say we have a favorite city but the ones that we have traveled to and that were the most interesting til now are, Amsterdam, Copenhagen.. But i think we need some more traveling under our belt to separate one particular.

What do you do when you’re not painting? Studio work and chilling.

Is it important that people see your stuff and you get recognition? I think many would say that they do it just for them selfs, but we think if you use the public space and put your stuff out there you can’t say you are just doing it for your self, the process is for you the product is for the rest. So some how i think in graffiti everyone strives for recognition from there pears.

Which writers are worth mentioning in your city, who’s up or have the best styles? The only people we would separate from the rest is STU crew. Concerning Belgrade they are the most up.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city? We think in the case of street bombing it’s going in a good direction because the younger generation really stepped it up and now you can see much more street pieces in much crazier spots then you would see before. To me it looks like Belgrade is becoming like some mini Berlin. But considering burner styles and productions we cant say that we have noticed some great improvement in the last years.

How is it to paint as twin brothers, does your special bonds make it easier and better when you paint together? We have been drawing together since we were kids, so naturally when we got in to graff this continued. It does help to develop thing quicker because it two brains instead of one ,But not to say that we don’t have disagreement from time to to time.

Future plans? Travel, more graff, more studio work all in all moving forward.
