Hello My Name Is: Shuen

Name: Shuen
Crew: STB & ZNC
City/Country: Kavala, Greece
When did you start writing? Summer of 1998.

What’s graffiti for you?
Has become a way of escaping from my daily problems something like my personal “psychologist”.

Influences?
Οld school graffiti scene.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
I am living and working in Larisa city the 4th biggest city of Greece which has the same problems as the whole country has, lot of unemployment people and huge economic problems due to fucking “financial crisis”. About graffiti scene is dead here …The only “good” about crisis is that I have many abandoned factories for painting.

What keeps you still writing?
Cause is my lovely hobby and the passion of drawing letters.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
The years until 2000 were good years for Greek graffiti scene and many kids started graffiti. My friends Sube and Kruel one summer night urged me to follow them for painting.. from that night i am in action.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
Must to have connections or to be a “big” name to participate on some graffiti festivals.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
To be honest I am not painting so much the last years (1 day per week) cause there is something better than graffiti on my life… my little daughter and mostly I am spending my free time playing with her!

How would you describe your style?
Letters with clear outlines.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes of course was a bubble piece with yellow fill & black outline on my neighborhood’s school and my tag was Bluf. The worst is that I haven’t picture from his one.

Future plans?
Traveling more and painting with my daughter.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
As I said my city is “dead” so I will speak generally… I don’t like that some young writers respect someone from how good is the style and not from what has offered as a man.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
One of the best for me is the part of sketching and the worst is that you can reach till the jail.

What writers have inspired you?
Μy fellas Jasone & Dee71 who have offered many in Greek graffiti scene. Also writers like Geser, Bates, Skore79, Cantwo, Taste, Kems, Kak and Miedo12 are some of my favorite writers.
