Hello My Name Is: Saez
Name: Saez
Crew: The Strangers, Final Flash, 3GC
City/country: Bordeaux, France
When did you start painting:
I started painting in 2003 at the end of my college years, listening to rap and getting interested in this discipline!
What is graffiti for you?
Graffiti for me is a job!, A pleasure part to every movement. I am passionate about the letter, and its solid foundations, I like the constructions and the work of a master piece! I give a lot of importance to the colors. At each new piece I try to bring a new direction in what I want to do! I draw a lot for that, with a good rap album!
Influences:
My influence is diverse, the work of friends but also the style of “BACK TO BASIC” New York style or East Coast United States late 70’s early 80’s, As well as the style school of the capital PARIS 80’s! I like all styles and approaches.
Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti?
Life in Bordeaux is very pleasant, the graffiti scene is not very large but very varied, very different styles and rich! everyone knows more or less each other, with his pioneers and these new generations! Bordeaux is MIAMI!!
What first interested you in graffiti and how did you find yourself on this track?
I arrived in the graffiti like many artists, teenager I was listening to rap, there was graffiti in the clips and in the hood next to my home! I took a passion for drawing and his universe ! since then I have not dropped the case! What trends do you see now in the world of graffiti that you do not like? Graffiti has evolved in 10 years, we are all federators of this evolutions! the media, the galleries and fashion contribute strongly. I have no point of view, everyone is free to give the direction he wants his art! Today a graffiti that you did this afternoon, we can see it at the other end of the planet the same evening with all these networks, crazy!!!
What do you do when you do not paint?
When I’m not painting, I’m working to make a living!! the graffiti does not make me live, I live for him for the moment!!
How would you describe your style?
My style is classic, I am oriented on simple bases, big letters A good big lettering, and a dynamic background, I give a lot of importance to the work of my colors that I apply!
Can you remember the first piece you made?
Yes, a graffiti I had done in a abandoned house not too far from where I lived, with some DIY bombs that I found on my left during a year when I was in high school! At that moment I fell in love with this practice and what it brought me!
Future plans?
I do not necessarily have future plans, I want to continue painting. To make bigger pieces, to work still more my letters and the bottom of my pieces!! It suits me for the moment!!
Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes, I choose a lot of my pieces according to the place! When I arrive in front of a wall, I immediately think about the atmosphere that I will be able to give, the colors and the energy that I will give it, make it living!! The place often gives me a lot of energy depending on what it releases!
What do you do when you do not paint?
I work!, I have a job that takes up a lot of my time, I work in the trade. Monday to Sunday!! every afternoon free for my paintings is calculated!!
What do you think of the new generation of writers in your city? It is essential, I’m always happy to meet the youngest in the field, and I love to exchange with them between fans!
What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Surely this side “egotrip” which is too much premium on the human, but next to that, this same side is necessary! It is important to remember that this is only graffiti and that one practices for love at the base. To make graffiti is a wealth for the one that does it, it brings us an equilibrium that we have not elsewhere! This work that we are trying to evolve leaves that it costs so much motivation, this incredible energy that we develop around it! It’s something strong! Finish a beautiful wall of lettering with these pals under a sunset with a good beer in hand, there is nothing more beautiful!
Who do you paint for? I have long painted for others, in group. getting older I began to paint more and more alone, and I realized that I took pleasure in doing it. Do not have constraints, work what I really like the direction I want! I like to prepare me big walls and to finalize them. these moments help me to bloom artistically !!
Which writers inspired you?
Many artists inspire me, first my friends, I like the old American timer Shank, Ces, Yesone etc. The German scene is his king of lettering, many French are very good too!!!
Can you feel tired of graffiti?
Never!! I love it too much, for what it brings me and for what gives for him!!
What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
Let the one who passes say “bingg, good job”. Beautiful lettering, good combination, beautiful colors, big energy!!
