Hello My Name Is: Fakt

Name: Fakt
Crew: DFS, SF
City/Country: Bremen, Germany
When did you start writing? 1995

What’s graffiti for you?
Graffiti is an important part of my life. Graffiti has made me who i am today and a life without is completely unthinkable. It´s also a way to feel free.

Influences?
Everything that happens around me.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
I wasn’t born in the city i live in, so i have very little relation to it. That´s why i do not care too much about details, but many really good writers live here. Many of them are friends and good friends. Everyone knows everybody but the most do their own thing.

What keeps you still writing?
Passion and my ideas. I love what i do and that will never end.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
The first time i saw graffiti in the area i grew up in, i was intrigued. That moment was the foundation for today – The feeling of writing with a spray can that others can see the next day.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I don’t like the “new generation” of hipster who delliberatly paint ugly.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
I’m becoming a tattoo artist, do work on commission jobs on the side and also sell canvases.

How would you describe your style?
Each letter is one with the other. All form a unity. They belong together. They hold and support each other but they’re also stable and alive on their own.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
I remember it very well and i wish i had photos from the first years. The most of them were lost.

Future plans?
Travel with my girl and enjoy my life with her, exhibit more works and bring out designs for clothes.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
I like to paint on surfaces where i can develop freely. To adapt to a space and to work under these limitations demands creativity, but i love to be free. That’s completely different with taggs or bombings.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
The kids of today don´t have enough respect for writers that started to paint before they were born. But i think this problem exists in almost every other city too.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Everyone can paint what, when and wherever they want.

Who do you paint for?
First of all only for me but also for everyone who likes what i do. If people like what you do, it makes you feel good. And i love it to paint with good friends in the sun and enjoy the moment with good musik and cold beers.

What writers have inspired you?
Senster (Rowdy) , Dya, Amok, T-Kid, Bates and many more

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
No way, i never get enough

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
I’m a stylewriter, for people who do not spray it rarely makes a profound sense. I seperate my graffiti from my political thinking.
