5 Minutes – Ikarus

For this 5Minutes episode we stuck to the heels of the graffiti writer Ikarus from Berlin for 12 hours. Together with Paradox, Ikarus was part of the graffiti crew BERLIN KIDZ, which over the years have made a name for themselves in the city with daring campaigns. What Ikarus does differs from street art in the strict sense, but is also something other than graffiti as you know it from Germany. He also uses spray cans – this is his medium for expressing himself. Influenced by the Brazilian Pixação, his style differs from classic graffiti bombing, whether on walls on trains or tags on the street. A very unique style has emerged, which is created either in the tunnels of the BVG or roped down from high-rise buildings. This is exactly where this episode shines.
