Travel report by Kenet, Sri Lanka
I started my trip in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka, quite touristy so I pulled down along the coast to places like as Mirrissa, Galle and Matara, and then a long train journey in the middle of the country to Nuwara Elya. The paint you could find in the closest hardware shop, you could buy a sufficient black for 1 EUR which spurted punky scrubby black paint. Worst paint i have painted with ever but oh so much fun it was, it smelled so disgusting that I thought my brain would poor out through my ears. The graff scene is really poor there! Nothing on the walls, it was basically just my own stuff that I saw when I came back opposite way. The inspiration you found among the wild, the humans and the culture.
One day I stood along a road midday and painted, after a while it emerged a grown man with a machete that went against me with a speedy touch. The thought struck me immediately that now it will go bad, especially when you are from the north and are used to people getting angry at you. But anyway, he came up to me. and I thought he would chop off my hands! But he started cutting down all the bushes in front of the painting and shouted “You cant hide your painting, you need to show it to the people”.

Hi there. I’m travelling to Sri Lanka in September this year and would love to do some painting whilst there. Do you have any more information about where you bought paint from and did you meet any other artists?
Cheers
