RUNNERS As a graffiti train writer you are always happy if you don’t have to run away from your unfinished piece. If your able to catch your piece running the day after so you can get your traffic photos during rush hour you’re even more happy. Our video series called RUNNERS is focused on graffiti on trains and for each episode we will feature actions and traffic videos from a selected writer or team of writers.

Hello My Name Is: Space [MCK]

Space_MCK_HMNI_Insta-PUFF

Name: Space
Crew: MCK and ATM
City/Country: Brisbane, Australia
When did you start writing? I started writing in the mid 90’s.

What’s graffiti for you? Graff for me is a lifestyle, almost everything i do and everyone i know is related to graffiti in one way or another, it’s the first thing i think about when i wake up and the last thing i think about when i go to sleep.
Influences? NYC pioneers of course, but my main influences are my crew and friends.
Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there? Brisbane is a small city with a very small scene, with over the top police. If you do a lot and get caught in Brisbane you are probably going to jail.
What keeps you still writing? seeing other writers who push the limits of what can be done is probably what keeps me interested after all this time.
What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like? the only thing I don’t like, is these days anyone can do Graff, it’s handed to kids on a platter. A lot of kids now days don’t even know the history of their own citys. Which is a shame.
What do you do when you’re not painting? when I’m not painting I’m sketching or looking at Graff on my phone.
Is it important that people see your stuff and you get recognition? it’s not important if people see my stuff but it is a bonus.
How would you describe your style? I would describe it as easy to read, bright colors, not to serious.
Can you remember the first piece you did? the first piece I did was under a bridge near my house, I used cheap paint and it looked like shit, but it was fun and I was instantly addicted.
Future plans? no future plans, just to keep painting as much as I can and not get caught.
