Name: Rymd
Crew: CAS, UFF and NHK
City/Country: Stockholm, Sweden
When did you start writing? I started in the late 90s.

What’s graffiti for you?
In a estetic way, Graff is lettering and colors and having fun with it, pretty basic about associated surroundings like – ”hip hop or not, legal or not, wall or canvas, what’s real or what’s not” it doesn’t matter to me. From the beginning it has always been about my fascination of the art itself. Of course nothing can beat a panel rolling by.

Influences?
Surroundings

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Stockholm – the capital of sweden, could summarise the city in short:
– busy daytime but quiet at night. There is a Swedish proverb saying: “there is no bad weather, just bad sweaters” … If you come here, bring your gore-tex jacket and boots and you’re ready to rock. The overall focus in Sweden is the underground scene I think, which also has been pretty strong lately.. lots of panels running and its colorful along the line and around the highways. Until 2014 Stockholm had zero-tolerance for graffiti and related arts. But now it’s really thriving actually, people are painting like crazy and there is more actors, jams, fames and retailers in the game than ever before.

What keeps you still writing?
I love to spray! It’s some kind of mix between the challenge and the pleasure of evolving, and I love the fact that there is an fucking endless equation of colors and forms left to be tested. And I can choose whatever i want, whenever i feel like it. in that way graffiti is freedom to me. And most of my friends are also painting, so why not?

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
I don’t know, an older guy in the suburb skatepark one day showed some pieces he did. i got hooked, started sketching and eventually I tried myself.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I don’t know really. I think most of the people is answering; “instagram” my perception is that people who is hardcore think it’s “cheating” in the aspect of getting up. old people don’t like instagram because they are old. “it was better before” i can hear them.. i do.. but time changes and nobody wants to live in the past. But I think people can do what they want, I leave them to do their thing if they leave me to do mine.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Last year i cut some hours from my day-time job to paint more and work with my own company that also involves spraying. otherwise, girlfriend, family and friends, thai boxing.. i hope for more skate this summer. (i always have my skateboard and a pair of Janoskis’ in the car in case of a skate session) it’s happening like 1 time a year only doh :0

How would you describe your style?
I don’t know. but I like movements and contrasts, colors….

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Not really.

Future plans?
Paint more in warmer countries.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Of course, I really don’t like to sketch so much anyway, so it adapts when I stand in front of the wall. Sometimes it’s fun to do it in a creative way, a good photo of a piece is nice. sometimes you involve the actual background in the piece, or use perspectives or even build something to create that lil extra. But 97% of the time I go to a wall where I know there is enough room and no obstacles to just SPRAY.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
I don’t know, but I think there is more new guys out there with a passion for style, so that’s good. keep on rocking!

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Best: freedom and experience
worst: in my younger days it felt like I got busted more than I was painting, so that took a lot of energy from me.

Who do you paint for?
Myself, other writers and ofc my sponsor, flamepaint-sweden. Big thanks to them for supplying me with all my spray paint.

What writers have inspired you?
2019 I’m overall inspired by Swedish writers, but primarily the CAS Crew. i think it’s a colorful crew with great styles and nice people. Much love!

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
There is ups and downs, yes. I think you have to find your own recipe about this. My goal is to paint 1 time a week. That’s on the edge before I’m getting crazy and NEED to paint. that makes it the peak of the week. And if time is letting me, I can do 2 or 3. Right now I’m in for trying painting fast, so I set a time limit on like 2 hours and i’m trying to do as much as i can on that time, and that is a very fun competition for myself. No going back cut lines, and if i do something wrong i do it right next time. But as an answer to the question, I feel that I’m more tired of myself for that I never stop thinking about graff.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
Ouf, i don’t know…

FIVE FAVORITES
Spray Paint: Flame
City: Stockholm
Markers/pens: The elementary school classics “Berol”
Surface: Pure concrete
Cap: Astro Fatcap, Flame blue skinny.

Name: SE2 / SE II / SETWO
Crew: BIK
City/Country: Copenhagen, Denmark

When did you start writing?
I got interested in 1999 but I started in 2006

What’s graffiti for you?
A liquid form who keeps developing my perspective, challenge my view, and transform my motivation and focus over the years.

Influences?
Back then, local heroes Code, Krom & Reset (RIP) DTC & EMC crews.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Life’s good, painted trains constantly running and walls getting hit. A good amount of fresh writers and crews keep doing their thing. But we need more walls!

What keeps you still writing?
To wake up at 7am in the morning, eat breakfast with my girlfriend and then grab my bags and go out to meet my boys and potentially do the best piece i’ve had done and afterwards getting smashed at a nearby bar, talking shit and having a laugh. Of course with a silver marker in the pocket.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
I grew up in a town outside Copenhagen, this place was so bombed everywhere, but it died out when authorities closed the hall of fame, I promised myself that they shouldn’t get away with it that easy ;).

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I think there is a big streetart-wave slowly eating traditional graffiti, and nowadays I see festivals and graffiti-events with characters and fine mural art all the time- but where are the letters?

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Chilling with my girl. Doing abstract paintings on canvas. Watching football, cooking nice food, and enjoying good alcohol, Always trying to make life good. Partying and having fun.

How would you describe your style?
New school, with a personal twist.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
I did a lot with Reks (FSC) when i started out, and i remember I did some very ugly pieces back then. Thanks for the patience bro!

Future plans?
Travelling and painting; Especially Amsterdam, Barcelona, Lisboa and Athens are places I dream of experiencing and painting in the future.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes always, that’s why I have a couple of different styles I can switch between.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
Good to see that someone didn’t get stucked in their boys room playing counterstrike and drinking coca cola.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Best: So much to do for a graffiti nerd; magazines, books, videos, update the blackbook, sketching and looking for new spots to paint.
Worst: jealousy, negativity and bitching among writers.

Who do you paint for?
Surround yourself with people who want you to succeed in every aspect of life. That’s my people, and the ones I paint for, besides myself. Love is the motivation.

What writers have inspired you?
Storm, Avelon31, Reks97, Toms, Ayres, Does, Revok, Woble, Osman to name a few.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Some years back I could sometimes feel tired of graffiti, but never at the moment. Graff is probably the best thing I know.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
In some way, a different approach to letters and I hope they’ll see a man who’s deadly serious about his color schemes

FIVE FAVORITES
Spray Paint: Montana Black all day every day!
City: Copenhagen & Berlin
Markers/pens: White Posca and silver pens
Surface: Concrete walls and rusty electric poles
Cap: The black with Orange dot

What’s graffiti for you?
A secret society with ordinary people and unusual experiences.

Influences?
Nikola Tesla and Dr.Doom.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Well the town where i’m from is super small, there is no graffiti scene, only pesky people looking out from their windows, wanna know what are you up to. Luckily i moved from there long time ago.

What keeps you still writing?
Seeing other people reaching new levels that i didn’t even know that it existed before.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
Hip-hop culture made me interested for sure, but i never got into it really, until i got to high school and i had my first chemistry class, which was super boring at that moment. So i started to sketch a random word, and it came out really cool, so i decided that i’m going in.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
#vegangraffiti

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Working, and having beers after work, and regretting the beers the next day at work.

How would you describe your style?
I can’t describe it, just trying to make a graffiti piece true to the game all time.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
For sure. I messed up my jacket pretty bad. Got home too late. Mom was upset.

Future plans?
Free energy for the people on planet Earth.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes of course.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
Well if there’s any, rock on!

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
The experiences. Both ways.

Who do you paint for?
For the movement.

What writers have inspired you?
I got my first true inspiration from a nearby city, where were a quite big scene, and nobody really knows about it still. From there i can name Yous, Nobs, Kelogs, Sector, Hopa, Chines, Bush, Higs. From now days people like Nomad, Dems, Balko, Urocki, Kosem, Druid, Rota, Pako, but the list can go on until infinite times.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
If i have to paint with a hungover yes.

Name: Laia
Crew: CK
City/Country: Barcelona, Spain

When did you start writing?
I started making tags and sketches in 1999, but until the following year I didn’t do my first piece.

What’s graffiti for you?
My best friend and my worst enemy.

Influences?
If I was a person with many influences I wouldn’t be painting the same thing for the last 20 years. hahaha.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
There is a lot of movement and a lot of tourism and that also brings many different styles. In my city, you pick up a stone and you get 30 graffiti writers.

What keeps you still writing?
Painting is my best disconnection from the world and my way of discharging energy. There are people who do yoga or boxing, I paint graffiti. I haven’t experimented yet an activity that makes me feel the way graffiti does so I will continue painting until I get tired.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
I started making sketches with my name to give them to my friends at school. Later on, watching The Fresh Prince on TV I realised I wanted to buy sprays, due to the main scene where he shows painting a wall and is caught by the police. That day i bought my first cans.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I do not like this tendency of extra garbage style. I like dirty pieces with a trash style, but there is a tendency for exaggeration that only makes me think that those people do not know how to paint. I also do not like the super admiration towards that style. I would like to know if those people are capable of making a clean piece.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
I work too much..

How would you describe your style?
Under my eye, pieces are like people’s faces, some are good looking, some are not that attractive, some inspire truthfulness and other don’t. Basically, you fall in love with ones and others horrify you. I try to make my pieces look like those chubby cute humans you’d like to cuddle with them 24/7.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes, it was in a river in the town of a friend. It only had two colors (light grey and light violet, horrible) and you can imagine how it was ….

Future plans?
Work less and paint as much as I can. Travel as a way of life doing what i like the most. Feeling free is the main idea.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes, obviously…!

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
When I was young it used to be respect to veteran graffiti writers, a respect that i can’t see nowadays. We had a non scripted rules that we had to follow and now a kid can come and cover a full color piece with a nasty shitty silver. This is the new generation that grows in my city.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
The best I get doing graffiti is all the adventures I have had lived, I actually live and the future ones. That involves traveling, sharing experiences with friends or alone and the knowledge of how far I can go.
The worst part is the jealousy that people has to each other. By the act of painting, people feeds their ego and can even harm others thru a nonsense battle searching to be recognized as the best, ridiculous.

Who do you paint for?
I paint for me, to fill my albums with nice new stuff

What writers have inspired you?
Mainly my inspo comes from the old tapes of trains covered by pieces from WUFC, SDK, etc……. I also get inspired by the first New York graffiti writers.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
I’m tired of the world that surrounds graffiti, not of the action.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
I don’t really hope anything because as I said before I do it for me, but what I would be happy to know is that they get that good energy I put on every single piece.

FIVE FAVORITES
Spray Paint: I don’t publicity brands that do not pay me hahah.
City: New York
Markers/pens: Krink
Surface: Metal it’s my favourite but is the one I less paint on.
Cap: Pocket

Name: Hemsk
Crew: NHR
City/country: Gothenburg, Sweden.
When did you start writing? 2008/2009

Whats graffiti for you?
A very fun way to express myself and my creativity, it’s also friendships and very addictive. It’s always on my mind in someway.

Influences?
Always think this is hard to answer but definitely old school graffiti, and i’ve always liked graffiti from Denmark. But i often hear i have a New York inspired style too which is probably correct!

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Gothenburg is Swedens second largest city, i’m born and raised and i really enjoy living here. At the moment i think the graffiti scene is thriving. I think it feels more active than in many years, which is very fun to see! Theres a lot of talented writers with great styles.

What keeps you still writing?
Mainly because it’s so fun, but also when i see improvements in my own style, that keeps me motivated.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
All my life i have been drawing, when i was younger i could be painting everything from cars to dinosaurs haha. I’ve always been creative, and when i started a new school in 2008 i met some classmates that introduced me to graffiti, and from there it kept going.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
Too much “anti-style/hipster graff” or whatever it’s called. For me a good style is most important. But thats just my opinion!

What do you do when your not painting?
Right now i’m studying full time. Besides that i hang out with my girlfriend and our dog, friends and family. Sketching/watching series and so on.

How would you describe your style?
Probably some sort of semi-wildstyle, lots of focus on the letters and popping colour schemes. I like to experiment with new letters, i get bored when i repeat things too much.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes haha. It was one day after school me and a friend went to a nearby water tower and there i made my first piece, i can remember it was red. Unfortunately i don’t have a photo.

Future plans?
Paint more, hopefully travel more and in someway have a job that’s creative.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes when i get the chance, i enjoy adapting pieces on for example a small wall, i tend to think of new connections and how to place the letters differently to fit the whole name. It’s fun!

What do you think of the new generation of writers in your city?
Hard for me to answer because i don’t personally know anyone younger than me writing. Most people i paint with are either my age or older. I know there are some good younger bombers tho. Like i said before the scene feels more active now which hopefully generates some new abilities!

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
For me it’s very meditative, relaxing, creative and extremely fun. You get to meet new people and you always got graffiti in your head. I can’t think of any other “hobby” that would take up as much time. But i enjoy that! Bad things, maybe the attitude amongst some writers. Tends to be a lot of negativity and trash talking at times.

Who do you paint for?
Myself and my crew.

What writers have inspired you?
There are many. Dome, a legend here in Gothenburg, one of my all-time favourite writers. That probably goes for most writers from here haha. I can also remember that i early noticed Bates and Smash137 in some books i got when i was still a toy, and got very inspired by them. Now in the latest years through instagram i have been able to find many more. The list would be very long but i’ll name a few: Agens, Jurne, Kems and Appear37!

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
I don’t think so, of course i can be tired at some parts of it at times. Especially sketching, it comes and goes for me but other than that i have no problem finding the inspiration and motivation to keep on!

What do you hope that people will see and think when they se your stuff?
I hope i can inspire some people like i have been inspired by others. I want to be recognised for my letters and style!

FIVE FAVOURITES
Spraypaint: Montana Black
City: Copenhagen
Markers/pens: Uni Paint PX-30 for tags and Posca markers for canvases.
Surface: Raw concrete
Cap: At the moment, Lego cap.

Name: Dask
Crew: Blade Runners, ACR, STC
City/Country: Athens GR
When did you start writing? 1994

What’s graffiti for you?
Back in the days, it used to be more like battle for us, now it works as psychotherapy!

Influences?
When I started writing, Bez from Netherlands had just visited in Athens. So the first pieces I fell in love with was his. Also a writer from Greece, Rek79. These two writers are still my basic influence and my mentors. But now with social media you can see styles from all over the world, there are many good writers out there. So you can inspire from here and there.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Athens is a great city for graff tourism right now, because of financial crisis nobody gives a shit. Lots of bombs, but not enough style writing!

What keeps you still writing?
Because of my full time job as a tattoo artist, I wasn’t so active for some years. But through graffiti I found again a way to do stuff for me and not commission. Also the trip of innovation of the style an make letters fit together.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
First pieces I saw were at my school from the twins Ante & Kerts. Later I realised that I love style writing and that’s how the journey begun.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
Writers care more about effects and colors and not that much about lettering and innovating their style. I don’t have a problem with that, but it’s not my cup of tea.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Tattooing, music and drinking some pints of lager!

How would you describe your style?
Bladerunning at the Astro-ship Central Railway.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Of course I do. Scrap cans, toy letters, no skills but a lot of fun!!!

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Sometimes is nice to fit your style in the spot, but I prefer totally black background for my space environment!

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
As everywhere there are good and bad things to see, but I like to see that the city never sleeps.

What writers have inspired you?
Everyone who try to do his stuff with his piece without losing respect to the original form of the letters.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Physically yes haha!

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
I hope to make them want to buy some tickets for my intergalactic trip!

Name: Felon
Crew: UNL & USA94
City/Country: Sofia, Bulgaria
When did you start writing? I started in 2002.

What’s graffiti for you?
Graffiti is my subculture.

Influences?
I get inspired by old graphic designs, comics, games, and graffiti of course.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
My hometown is Veliko Tarnovo but I moved to Sofia 10 years ago. Sofia is a nice place for graffiti. It has a lot of abandoned places where you can find clean spots. Also, the streets are really chill to paint. To live here is another subject. Last few years the city is really evolving for good. 10 years ago it was a mess.

What keeps you still writing?
I guess I never find anything more intriguing in my life. Also, a lot of my friends are still doing it so it’s really hard to get out of that.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
I remember in my hometown the art school always brought new writers around. Me and my brother used to collect pictures of the graffiti in the streets. Soon after we started painting.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I see a lot of people these days painting the same piece with different colors and they call it style.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Usually, I work and go out with friends. I also like to travel a lot but that doesn’t exclude painting

How would you describe your style?
My style is bold and figurative. Almost like a logo. I keep my things simple and easy to read.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes. It was in my hood back in 2002. It was around meter long and it took me 3 hours Haha

Future plans?
I really want to visit Japan. I’m going to New York next month for a show. LA is next so a lot of painting ahead. Stay tuned.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes, I like to approach every spot individually. Sometimes I take my time to see what it will be the best option for that particular wall.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
The kids these days are progressing very fast but they lose interest soon after they start. I don’t see a lot them lately involving with graffiti.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Best – You meet awesome people everywhere around the world
Worst – You can go to jail and meet not so awesome people. Also to fuck up your new clothes is really annoying.

Who do you paint for?
For myself pretty much.

What writers have inspired you?
There are so many… Remio, Sonik, Sawe, Dems, Scien & Klor, Os Gemeos etc. Really amazing artists.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Yes sometimes. When that happens I try to change the direction. I find that refreshing.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
Eyeburns B)

Name: Teazer
Crew: Stay Gold, MOC
City/Country: Byron Bay, Australia
When did you start writing? 1989

What’s graffiti for you?
Primarily a good New York style (or Sydney Public Style) lettering, I think production painting is the best way to compliment good letters, and add more appeal for the viewer. Characters and Background all emphasise the Letters. Nowadays you can even rock a good character with flare, and all of the attributes of the medium of spray paint, and it can be dope and to me be classified as graffiti.

Influences?
I am influenced by fantasy and sci-fi art; Frazetta, Bisley, Vallejo. Skateboard and Tattoo culture, and International Style Writing.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Byron Bay is dope, It is a beach town, with beautiful hinterland, climate and lifestyle, More emphasis on quality of life, rather than just survival, and day to day grind. I feel like you can get more done here without distraction. We (me and @secretduck) basically paint whatever we want, legal or illegal, Actually most of our production walls began illegal, without permission. We would just rock up and look professional, and do quality productions, And people would simply say keep up the good work.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
Striving to do better and better work, develop an individual style, and try to stay fresh and express different ideas and themes that I personally resonate with or have some social relevance. I was first interested in the act of vandalism, fucking shit up, and getting known, It was a type of protection in the early 90’s traveling the city circle and other lines, kids would respect you if they knew your name, and you would have an automatic connection, alternatively if they didn’t know you, then could jack you for your clothes and sneakers. Kids would literally end up in there boxer shorts. I actually tried to quit graffiti a few times but always came back to it.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I’m not really into the social media game, of jocking other writers and artists, and playing games. I’ve never really conformed to popular opinion or expectation or bowed down to anyone, I will treat everyone as an equal, and always stay true to myself and always call it how I see it.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Fitness, motorbikes, Bmx, skating, Bodyboarding, Collecting skateboards, Gardening and cleaning shit.

How would you describe your style? Newyork Public /semi wildstyle.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes, a trackside in Bondi Junction Sydney, I tried to do a piece, character and background for my first piece. Lol. We then got a chase by this strange rail cart, with a security guard on it, So it was kind of unfinished.

Future plans?
Some exciting alliances in 2019 and beyond. More travel adventures, and exploring different mediums.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
I feel like subconsciously I will suss out a spot, go away and do a sketch and colour scheme for it, and when I’ve flicked it, I realise its taken all of the colours in the surrounding area into account, weather a high contrast, or a monochromatic match. It makes me think how much subconscious thought comes into the creative process.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
I think there will always be the up and coming bombers in any city, that are resentful or frustrated about Legal pieces, recently we had some kids blowing up at us, that we take all the spots. Then someone said to me, since when has getting up too much been a thing to hate on as a writer?! Pretty funny really, I think you can get up more these days by just getting permission or getting paid to do a wall, but ive got no problem just painting anything I feel like J.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
Graffiti saved my life, and sent me on more of a creative path, rather than more of a criminal path. It is a creative outlet. It is a reason to travel, a way of meeting people; Art is a vehicle that can take you around the world and on adventures you would never experience without it. The problems of Addiction and alcoholism. L Sheep mentality, gossip and ignorance. Even if they can paint, people like this are toys!

Who do you paint for?
Myself/ cultural contribution in my community and hopefully to raise frequency and inspire others.

What writers have inspired you? Crime In Style, Dmote, Atome, Spice, Peque, Secret, Slick, Cantwo, Mad C, Bates, Rens, Tiws, Soten, Slider, Kaisy, Puaks, Tones, Insane51, the list goes on and on.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Sometimes, if I fall into a rut and stop pushing forward, then at times a friend will inspire me again, And reignite the spark.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
Fuuuuuckkkkk! Hahaha, ive learnt that people have good defences to anything that challenges to lift their frequency, they can easily shut it out and stay inside there little box. J I did it for years!

Name: Prins oner/Hector103
Crew: BIB, ODB, DT & LO
City/Country: Odense, Denmark
When did you start writing? I started back in 85-86 sketching, in 1987 i did my first piece.

What’s graffiti for you?
Graffiti is everything, its brought me new friendships allover the world, its keeps me young, and its like a get away to the daily life.

Influences?
Definitely the old New York scene.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
I live in Odense city, the city of the famous fairytale writer H. C. Andersen, 3rd biggest city in Denmark, the graffiti scene is very small, guess only 15-20 active writers, mostly youngsters, but a few friends from way back still writes too, 30 years after.

What keeps you still writing?
I kept painting all these years to develop my style, and getting better. And the social life, between writers means a lot to me.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
Funny story cuz, i used to be an martial arts instructor, and i guess, some youngsters at my age, confronted me, stepped up and wanted to fight me in the club, back in the 80s. The outcome could have ended up very badly, but we became friends, and they showed me “Style Wars” & the Danish book “Dansk Wildstyle Graffiti”… And thats how i started and still do, and my friends from the club, stopped writing, many years ago.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
I think today, the new generation of writers, are Lucky they got youtube and all sorts of internet guidelines, and they can become very skill full technicians – fast…, but sometimes the lettering basics, flow… lacks. They should make a lot of sketching, before they go out, painting, but thats my opinion. Also to much hate and disrespect, its to easy today, hiding in your’e home, behind the screen. Back in the days, you would go out and battle it out….

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Take care of my wife, children, friends and my window cleaner company…

How would you describe your style?
I try to do different styles, but my style must be Semi-wildstyle.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes it was a punk character i did under a bridge, got busted the very first time, i went out painting, the fine/ticket were around 40$, and I still have it… 31 years after.

Future plans?
Try to become even better than yesterday, maybe do more burners in the future, and meet a lot of new friends all over.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes, of course…

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Making plans.. To the Next project.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
I Think they got skills, but a lot of em are to lazy, Cant cope with the OG’s.

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
The Best aspect is you can make a lot of friends, earn respect, get recognition.
The worst.. bad energy, haters, jealousy.

Who do you paint for?
My self, and People Who likes wut i do…

What writers have inspired you?
The old Danish kings like Rens, Sabe and of course the legends from USA like Skeme, Duster, Ces.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
Well if i’m together with friends, a whole weekend painting, i need to think on something else.. a couple of days..

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
I Hope they like it, i’ve been working hard for the last 3 decades, and got no plans stopping.

FIVE FAVORITES
Spray Paint: Kobra/Loop’s
City: Odense
Markers/pens: Posca
Surface: Concrete
Cap: New York Fatcap

Name: Derok
Crew: GBS, NRB and TOBOGANG
City/country: Actually, Barcelona

When did you start writing?
I touched a spray can for the first time in 2001 but I started to paint seriously a few years later.

What’s graffiti for you?
The drug to which I’m the most addicted right now. It’s also an incredible way to escape daily life and a constant learning process.

Influences?
Daily life and what I see with my own eyes. I consider myself as an observant person. I’m influenced by the people that surround me and I’m really interested by classic New York graffiti of the 70s and 80s.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Nowadays, I’m living in Barcelona. I think it’s a really great city. Good weather, sea and mountains. Talking about graffiti, well, there’s for everyone. There are a lot of active people in every area of the game.

What keeps you still writing?
I couldn’t tell you precisely but I guess it’s an accumulation of circumstances. Let’s say that I still see the light at the end of the tunnel.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
As a graffiti consumer I’m able to appreciate, to see something positive about, almost everything that I see. Still, I don’t like the fact that some people are more focused on what others do than on their own work. And this isn’t only in the graff game, this is in life in general.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Living the life, which is something…

How would you describe your style?
Curves and straight lines. Connections, proportions and harmony. I also give a lot of importance to the color scheme.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes, a masterpiece! hahah

Future plans?
On a short term, enjoying life in general. I’m not the type of person making long term plans.

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Of course. Still, I try to paint spots that suit better my pieces.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
There’s a lot of movement all the time. There are a lot of people doing powerful stuff.

What are the best and the worst aspects of graffiti?
The best part is all the good times that it generates. Experiences, adventure, anecdotes, etc… The worst, I already told you.
