Hello My Name Is: Klik

Name: Klik
Crew: BA, DSF
City/Country: Stockholm, Sweden
When did you start writing? 1993

What’s graffiti for you?
Back then, a way to go from being totally invisible to the one people talked about. Today, something incredible fun in my otherwise quite hectic life.

Influences?
Train writers and bombers. I have always preferred illegal graffiti.

Tell us about your city, how is life and graffiti there?
Stockholm has always been hard to paint in but people are doing it anyway. It’s the same with the trains, right now it’s really hard but if you want to do it you can.

What keeps you still writing?
I wanna close a circle, paint at the places where I didn’t paint when I was younger and with the people that i never did it with. And also to enjoy all the positive aspect that comes with graffiti.

What first made you interested in graffiti and how did you end up on that track?
Two of my classmates started to paint and after a while they got me interested as well and then I was stuck.

What trends are you seeing now in the graffiti world that you don’t like?
Hipster graffiti.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Running a couple of businesses and take care of my family.

How would you describe your style?
Simple and direct. I want it to be as brutal as possible.

Can you remember the first piece you did?
Yes, look at the picture.

Future plans?
To slow down a little bit 🙂

Do you adapt your pieces and tags to the spot/surface?
Yes, I like to paint fast on trains and i want to put the piece on the train. That’s when I’m the best.

What do you do when you’re not painting?
Travel, eat food (but no hipster food), watch all AIK Stockholm games, take care of my family and walk with my dog.

What do you think about the new generation of writers in your city?
I’m really impressed, they paint like crazy and are doing it really good, respect!

What are the best and worst aspects of graffiti?
The best thing is all the fantastic people that I have met and all the weird things I have experienced. Today it is everyone that gives me positive response on things I have done and all the love I’m receiving.
The worst thing are they who are trying to stop us with unclear methods, lies and violence.

Who do you paint for?
Myself and those who wants to see my work.

What writers have inspired you?
First Reson, then HNR, Vimoas, Jama, Skil and Star who had a huge importance for me when I was younger. Today I like Klive, he is my guide and he takes care of me and makes things done. I got really impressed by WOL (Wolume 2 & 3) and FY (Fyboda) and the movies they did. And then Fher, who plays on another level.

Can you ever feel tired of graffiti?
I got extremely tired of graffiti and writers that I didn’t care at all for 18 years. Today I take it less serious and if it’s not funny then there is no reason to do it.

What do you hope people will think and feel when they see your stuff?
Fuck, has he been out again 🙂

A security man paints a train in Cape Town for Tese

Walking though the area of Cape town, i found some really nice trains on the holiday track. I talked to a security guy, who is from other guys that i know from other countries. He liked my painting. So I explained in detail what I did and how. He was very curious, so I let him try on his own. See the result… It is great to have friends supporting art all over the world.
