The Celal gallery hosted artist Ken Sortais and bestiary for personal varnishing entitled “Les Peregrinations De Si Atroce.” Graduate of Fine Arts in Paris, Ken Sortais was born in 1983. For more than ten years, he sailed in the middle of graffiti, sharpening his knives on the walls of the capital. But never move away from a more introspective intimate studio work, essential. Drawing on codes cartoon, manga, advertising logo or drawing on more traditional sources, the universe Ken Sortais is ambivalent. The innocence of childhood is facing are the concerns of adulthood and behind the smiling faces, to hide the real demons. A struggle then ensued between dream and nightmare, freedom and bondage, integrity and alteration … Shape distortion, multiplication curves and curls, the light and shadow play, relief and perspective, are as much graphics devices which use Sortais to carry out its symbolic disposal company. His characters are the first victims. Then it was the turn of the viewer to be drawn into this paradoxical world, which he can not escape unscathed. Winner of the prestigious Salon de Montrouge in 2011, Ken Sortais had the opportunity to show his work at the Palais de Tokyo, offering the viewer a real journey in the form of a large installation: Last Tour. After exhibited in London, New York and most recently Paris, the artist stops now to Celal gallery where he will share the beautiful experimentation, both pictorial plane as sculptural. An exhibition that takes the form of a symbolic journey, guided by the mystical and visionary impulses of the work of Goya and enriched by the metaphysical nightmares Argento, Italian director whose films are haunted by the belief that reality is a enigma. A theme dear to Sortais will plunge us into a world ruled by strange and littered with complex images imbued with the desire to cover their tracks.
