Downtown LA mural – Dead Of Night
A new mural called, “A New Purpose” by artist Push, was finished September 2014 in the Little Tokyo area of Downtown Los Angeles. The work was crafted by artist, Push to bring graffiti art, which is exploding in the Arts District, into the adjacent neighborhood of Little Tokyo. His vision brings a contemporary, abstract vision to the streets of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles native and based graffiti artist, PUSH, is known for his thoughtful graphic-like designs and beautiful use of color. Art Share Los Angeles, a community art center located in the heart of the Arts District collaborated with Known Gallery, an internationally known gallery of the Seventh Letter brand in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, to bring more public art to the streets of Los Angeles. Property owner, BH Properties graciously donated this wall and supplies to the project. Donations for this project were also received by Montana Cans USA.
This 60-foot mural is located at 640 E. 2nd Street between Central and San Pedro Avenues in Little Tokyo. The artwork had to be created between the hours of midnight and 6AM from September 1, 2014 until its completion on September 20, 2014. Crews arrived on site and accessed a large boom that carried the artists up and around the mural. All done in the dead of night.
